Your post brings back memories of my time in the Air Force 1969-1973. I was stationed in both Misawa, Japan & Kunsan, Korea during the Christmas/New Years holidays. I know what it meant to get encouraging news from loved ones as we served thousands of miles from our families. The military tried their best to make sure we all got a holiday special meal.
