Before moving forward into the 80s, we must step back in time to the beginnings of Country Music, a genre all its own that has left an indelible mark on music history. Old time fiddle (a genre of American folk music) is the precursor to country that influenced bluegrass, country blues, variants of western swing and country rock.

Sharla Shults‘s insight:

This is part 1 for Country Music covering three generations, 1920s, 1930s-40s and 1950s-60s.

  1. Actually, it’s our favorite music to listen to when we drive. Goes so well with the open road.

Hmmmmmm…. there we go!! It’s getting REALLY interesting. *grin*
Country Music is my very favorite! When I studied in Nashville at the University I fell in love with Country Music – and that’s a long time ago. I never get bored by it – These are mostly amazing singers and I LOVE the music, even more since it not only has words one can understand and sing along with – but also a rhythm AND a melody!! 🙂
85% of my CD’s are Country Music CD’s and whenever I’m home my car radio is on a Country Music Radio Station…
🙂 Thanks for this one, Sharla

I have never really been into country music but I am changing. I hate the so-called popular music of today! Cannot understand the words and when I Google the lyrics, I wish I had never read them! UGH!
